A New Book

I have started reading a new book titled, "Drops of Doctrine" by B.R. Hicks.  I purchased it a while back but it has had to wait due to the other books I was reading!  Last night I thought to myself, I want to read this book, therefore I started it last night.  I  can already tell that it is not going to be a fast read.  This book will take time and meditation and the Holy Ghost to help me grasp all the wisdom within its pages.

The author uses the scriptures found in Deuteronomy.

Deuteronomy 32:1-2"Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.  My doctrines shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass."

The author states, that God's principles of humility and exaltation are precious and priceless treasures to Him.  That is why He does not reveal them to sinners; that is why He does not pass them promiscuously to self-willed, carnal minded Christians.  She also stated that there is a world of difference between true doctrines and the thing commonly called doctrine, for God's Word has suffered much at the hands of carnal minded man.   Much of what the Christian world today calls doctrine is in reality nothing more than the dogma of man's philosophies and opinions.   Doctrines has to do with God's divine principles of humility and exaltation.

Chapter One
Witnesses to God's Existence

The author tells us and we know this, that God has placed within the depths of man's heart an awareness of Him as the Creater but we form strange wrong ideas about "God".

Atheists state, there is no God!
Agnostics state, there may be a God but we know nothing about Him!
Heathens believe in many gods, and use their imagination to create all manner of grotesque images to bow down to and worship.
Many people living in the land of Christianity are guilty of failing to recognize God as a living reality in their lives.   These individuals think of God as being nature, as an influence for good, as an impersonal mind, a force, a mental crutch, or as "The Man Upstairs".

As I read "just" these few pages within this book, I question myself to the sincerity of my belief.
I am not an Atheist, I know there is a God.  I am not Agnostic for God "IS" revealing Himself to me that I may know Him.
I am not as most living in the land of Christianity for I do realize God as a living reality in my life.   I know He is not the wind, the wind is but His breath, he is not a higher power as some groups call him...HE IS THE POWER....and a mental crutch....NO WAY...He is my God, He is my refuge, He is my deliver, He is my hightower, He is the very essence of who what I am, where I am to go, what I am to do:  For without HIM:

I am nothing, I know nothing, I can do nothing, and I have nothing; For all else is but sinking sand!  The foolish man's foundation is but to think he is something, he knows something, can do something and all that he has is because of "Self".

But my thought was turned inside to the "secret places" of my deception and wickedness!  Oh are we surprised that we are deceitful and desperately wicked?

Jeremiah 17:9"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?"

The author of this incredible book tells a story about six blind men.  Each of them did not know what an elephant was like.  Each of the six blind men touched a different portion of the elephants body and then stated that the elephant was as the portion of the elephant's body they touched: Such as one touched the tail of the elephant and he weaved the image of a rope in his mind so an elephant is as a rope!  One blind man touched the side of the elphant and visualized a wall so he believed by his own visualization that an elephant was as a wall.

Do you see the foolishness of "carnal thinking"?  How many times are we guilty of the same "wrong preceptions" of God because of an experience, that we were blind and ignorant of God being in that experience?

Job could have stated that there "was not a God" due to the extreme loss and suffering he experienced but he did not.  However, he did moan and complaining and even cursed the day he was born.  Job did not allow the suffering of life, the loss of possessions be the preachers against God's existence.   Most people today state, if God, is love, why then does He allow so much pain and suffering!  Ignorance of God and His ways are unnecessary.  That statement alone is a declaration that this person stating such a question, and we all have at one time or another questioned the goodness of God due to our own suffering and losses,  that this person is shallow, lacking in knowing God.

Our guilt lies within disinterest and neglect.  How?  If studying God's Word, or spending quality time in prayer is boring, too much commitment, then God will not reveal himself to you.  Remember the author's statement, "He does not pass them promiscuously to self-willed, carnal minded Christians."

In all truth, it matters not if you believe or I believe when it comes to our own individual life!  For I alone will stand before God, you alone will stand before God in the near future and what we did or did not do will be exposed at the day of judgment!

We must have fellowship with Jesus Christ, God's Son then through this fellowship, God will become a reality to us.  He will not be some "power up there" you know a mere vague idea of Him.   He will become real, alive, and powerful and full of Mercy and Grace toward us.

For the increased realization of God and Who He Is, the more we realize who we are and how desperately poor and needy we actually are:  All the finest of the world does not make you but the borrower of earthly goods, how rich are you spiritually speaking?

The existence of God!

Do we dare lift up hands full of wrath and doubting?

I Timothy 2:8"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."

The existence of God  is made manifest by the witness of creation, the witness of man's own conscience and the witness of Jesus Christ.  The witness of the written Word of God and the witness of our own personal experience with Him, is the evidence we need to know that God does exist!

I Corinthians 13:12"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known".

We know God exist and for those of us that know he exist we do look forward to the day that we can see him face to face.

To believe in  God, who does exist is to also believe in His Holy Righteous Judgments.   I go to the mediator, His Son, and plead my case before Jesus Christ to present me to the Father daily.
As I learned the other day that before I can even enter before His Throne, Mercy and Truth must go before me...who is but mercy and truth?  The Son of the Living God, Jesus Christ!

I can no longer scoot by on my backside thinking, "Oh God understands, one little drink will not hurt me" or " just this one time, I love this man so much" or "God understands I am just too exhausted to go to church today" or "God is love full of mercy and grace he understands my need and desire for the world's pleasures".....and we think He will not sentence us with punishment for our wrong thinking and evil deeds!

God does exist!  And so does His Love Light and Life but also His Justice and Judgements exist:
For He is Holy and Righteous!

I can no longer "play" with the wrath and doubt of others, I can no longer be lukewarm in a time that is close to the coming of the Lord, I can no longer be "medium" I must burn for the Lord, I must shine bright His Love, I must turn my other cheek in humility, I must believe He exist always in every circumstance, every situation and among all people!

Oh let His Drops, His Dew, His Small Rain and His Showers be my experience, my truth!

  2. Excellent read Rhonda. I especially like "...that God's principles of humility and exaltation are precious and priceless treasures to Him." I can see that God guards His reputation and will only extend His preciousness to willing vessels. I also like the elephant analogy. Blessings to you dear one.

  3. The scriptures point out very clearly that we are made in the image of God. We look like HIM! We're not some indescribable amount of mass, we have eyes, ears, a physical body that looks just like Gods body.

God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are 3 separate beings but are united in one cause and that is to bring about our salvation.

Thanks for todays post! Happy Wednesday!

  5. It does make me sad that there are so many different doctrines and beliefs about God. Perhaps there is no perfect doctrine on earth. I love how you say we cannot do anything good without God. I know this is true; we are either a slave to Satan or a child or serant of God.

  6. My little brother says "if you're gonna talk about it...be about it!" We do need to seriously question whether or not our actions and what we say we believe match up. God has integrity. He does what He says He will do. We will have to face up to the consequences of our actions and choices someday...and I wonder how many of us are truly ready for that?!

    Great post, Rhonda!
